Privacy Policy — InSight Countdown
Draft / template. This is the text intended to be hosted at the app’s public Privacy Policy URL (required by App Store Connect and by App Review Guideline 5.1). Fill in the bracketed placeholders, host it at a stable URL (GitHub Pages, Notion, your own site), and keep it in sync with the app’s actual data behavior. When a capability or third-party SDK changes (e.g. AdMob added/removed, a new entitlement), update this file — see the maintenance rule in
CLAUDE.md. This is not legal advice; review with counsel before publishing.

Summary
InSight Countdown is built to keep your data yours. The countdowns you create are stored on your device and synced only through your own private iCloud account. The developer does not run any server that collects your countdowns and cannot access them.
The free version of the app shows ads through Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service that collects some data as described below. The optional Premium subscription removes ads and unlocks the premium visualizations.
Information we (the developer) collect
None directly. The developer does not operate a backend, does not require an account, and does not collect, store, or transmit your countdowns, contacts, location, or analytics to its own systems.
Data stored on your device and in your iCloud
- Your countdowns (labels, target dates/times, repeat and Lock Screen settings) and app settings (accent color, digit font, screen-lock and Lock Screen preferences) are stored locally and synced via Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database) so they appear on your other devices signed into the same Apple ID.
- This data lives in your iCloud account. It is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. The developer cannot read it. Deleting the app and removing its iCloud data removes it.
Advertising — Google AdMob (free version)
The free version displays ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- Device identifiers (e.g. advertising identifier / IDFA, device ID),
- Usage data (ad interactions, app activity related to ads),
- Diagnostics (crash and performance data related to the SDK),
- and coarse/approximate location in some cases.
Google may use this data to serve, personalize, cap, and measure ads, including — only with your permission via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt — tracking across other apps and websites. If you decline tracking, the app requests non-personalized ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
You can control ad tracking at any time in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking and Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Apple Advertising.
Subscriptions and payments
Premium is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Payment, billing, and renewal are handled entirely by Apple; the developer receives only Apple’s standard, aggregated sales reports and does not receive your payment card or full billing details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
To manage your subscription status (validate purchases and unlock Premium across your devices), the app uses RevenueCat, a third-party subscription service. RevenueCat receives purchase events from Apple and an anonymous app-generated identifier; it does not receive your payment card details and does not track you across other apps or websites. RevenueCat processes this only to provide subscription functionality. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
App functionality and background activity
- Live Activities (Lock Screen / Dynamic Island) are generated on-device.
- Alarms and reminders are scheduled entirely on-device — using the system AlarmKit alarm service on iOS 26 and later, or local notifications on earlier versions. They involve no data collection or network transmission.
- The app uses Background App Refresh solely to refresh its own Live Activities so a countdown can remain visible on the Lock Screen; this involves no data collection or network transmission by the developer.
- The app uses CloudKit remote-notification background updates only to keep your iCloud-synced countdowns up to date across your devices.
Children
InSight Countdown is rated 4+ but, because it shows third-party ads and may request tracking permission, it is not directed to children and is not offered in the Kids Category.
Data retention and deletion
The developer stores no personal data, so there is nothing for the developer to retain or delete. Your countdowns and settings are removed when you delete them in the app, delete the app, or remove its data from iCloud. AdMob data is governed by Google’s retention policies.
Your rights
Because the developer does not collect your personal data, requests to access, correct, or delete personal data should be directed to the relevant data controller — Apple (iCloud, payments) or Google (advertising) — using the links above. For questions about this app, contact [support email].
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected at the hosted Privacy Policy URL with an updated effective date.
